The controversy over the Arizona deputy sheriff accused of lying about being shot by an illegal immigrant seems to have been put to rest on Friday. A test for gunpowder on Pinal County Deputy Sheriff Louie Puroll’s shirt came back negative, ruling out the possibility of a close-range shot. The follow-up investigation was triggered by a report in the Phoenix New Times last month quoting two forensics experts who challenged the deputy’s version of events.
