CR-CL Podcast LogoCR-CL’s Executive Editors for Online Content, Noah Kaplan and Matt Giffin sort through the issues that may point progressives away from voting to re-elect Barack Obama.  Does being progressive mean voting for Democrats, or should progressives send a message to the president that we expect more?

Noah and Matt begin by talking about a post published for The Atlantic discussing the progressive case against voting for President Obama.  The author, Conor Freidersdorf, argues that the policies of the Obama administration on conducting the war on terror have broken numerous promises and continued the inhumane and unethical policies of the previous administration.

Our second topic asks, if a progressive doesn’t want to continue supporting President Obama, where can that vote go and what will it mean?  Why has American history been dominated by a two-party structure?  Can a vote for a third-party candidate be meaningful?  What would have to change in order to see a new party structure in American democracy?
